Free Mental Health Supports - Alert Bay

Abuse / Neglect, Addictions / Substance Use, Indigenous Services, Mental Health - Adult, and Mental Health - Child & Youth

Provided by 'Namgis First Nation

Various mental health services, supports and referrals to other organizations, free for anyone in the community to access as needed.
The 'Namgis Health Centre provides mental health supports and services for all who live in Alert Bay and Cormorant Island, all of which are completely funded through MSP, with no added cost. These include:
  • Refers to other counsellors and treatment programs as necessary, including the 'Namgis Treatment Centre.
  • Provides support to the community by delivering psycho-education and running support groups.
  • Confidential, culturally sensitive services that honour everyone regardless of faith, race and sexual orientation.
  • Provides support through grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, mental illness, sexual abuse, physical abuse, relationship issues and drug/alcohol addiction.
  • During the school year staff attend at T’lisalagi’lakw school, the Alert Bay school and North Island Secondary School, assisting students as needed
