Early Child and Aboriginal Infant Development Programs - Alert Bay

Development programs designed to support local families with young children and infants, including those with specialized needs.
'Namgis First Nation provides a variety of programs for all who have young children and infants and live on Cormorant Island, Kingcome, Malcom Island, as well as those living north of Woss on North Vancouver Island.

Aboriginal Infant Development
  • Services are for infant and children aged 0-3, or 0-6 with special needs
  • Provides guardians with supports and education regarding development stages of children
  • Other parenting programs, Well Babies and Post-Natal programs are delivered throughout each community

Early Intervention Therapy
  • Community-based services and supports tailored to children between birth and school entry who have, or are at risk, for a developmental delay and/or disability, and their families
  • Program is designed to provide family-centred therapy and support(s)
  • Therapies offered include Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language

Other infant, child and family supports are also offered, such as Child Welfare, Family Support, Social Development and various levels of schooling.
